AYAHUASQUEROS

21 Nov

Recordings from the Amazon, Peru 2012

In their visions, ayahuasca shamans say they see the essences that animate living beings, the first property of which is to emit melodies. These essences are considered powerful beings, and ayahuasqueros learn their melodies by singing along. Singing like powerful beings, they learn to see like them, and this gives them knowledge. The melodies that shamans bring back from their visions are called “icaros”; they help navigate the space of ayahuasca consciousness, and can also serve as lifelines when overwhelmed by visions.

Jan Kounen / Bluberry / Ayahusca trip

6 Jul

As a Jan Kounen’s movie, I wanted to present a short sample…

Depiction of an ayahuasca trip from the movie Renegade aka Blueberry.

One of the best way I found to describe it in a movie…since it will never be possible to describe it as it is in reality…

Blueberry Ayahusca Scene

“Blueberry”, A.K.A “Renegade” (2004) is one of the most psychedelic films I’ve ever seen. It is a rare film which has a trip-like feeling from beginning to end.

This sequence, portraying an Ayahuasca experience undergone by the hero Vincent Cassel near the end of the movie, is one of the most breathtaking depictions of the psychedelic experience ever created. Lo and behold.

Psychedelic Visions from Other Worlds

Other worlds – J. Kounen (2004)

Ayahuasca induced DMT visions guided by Shipibo Shamens deep in the Peruvian Amazons. This is the final scene from Jan Kounen’s documentary Other Worlds (“D’Autres Mondes”).

…We all share a universal mythology, which serves as a source for the visions. Each and every one of us is an infinite universe, where angels and demons make up our thoughts, emotions, memory and our body…
