A classic of early 90’s psychedelia!
“Psyché Rock” (from Messe pour le temps présent) by musique concrète master Pierre Henry is a true classic of psychedelic culture. It moves effortlessly between popular material (Louie Louie, the fuzzy sound of psychedelic rock, etc.) and avant-garde techniques of sound manipulation.
You can find all kinds of remixes and versions of the influential track for example by Fatboy Slim, Coldcut, Stereolab, Moog Cookbook, etc. and of course probably the most popular: the Futurama theme.

This is NOT a mod or a glitched or otherwise altered game. It is actually an arcade game known as PuLiRuLa or Pu-Li-Ru-La Arcade Gears that was released by the Japanese video game publisher TAITO (of Space Invaders and Bubble Bobble fame) in 1991. Believe it or not – it was even brought to North America in the same year.
The video above shows only the game’s 3rd round which is of a “lysergic” madness I would not have expected from an officially released video game. But the rest of the game is also crazy psychedelic and very beautiful, so I have included the first part of a playthrough underneath.
This one is a real gem! I am getting a strong Jodorowsky vibe here. Hope you enjoy it, too!

If you are interested in recent psychedelic animation you should keep your eyes open for the works of Micah Buzan. This video for “Look… The Sun Is Rising” by The Flaming Lips won the Genero.tv Video Contest. But the rest of his stuff is by no means of a lesser fibre.
The video for the new Boards of Canada track “Reach for the Dead” (directed by Neil Krug) does a very good job in complementing the feeling of suspense and expectation built by the music. Both keep your senses wide awake, pointing at something right behind the barren beauty they provide.
Great psychedelic video by Jon Leone for the track Familj by the swedisch psychedelic masters Dungen.
