The Love-Ins

17 May

“The hippies’ freedom and their strange ideas are attracting national attention”. Amusing 1967 psychedelically styled trailer for the movie The Love-Ins which prominently features a character obviously based on Dr. Timothy Leary. Like other mainstream films about psychedelics from the era, at the end it all comes down to: Acid will ruin you, and even Dr. Leary gets a pretty straightforward admonition in the film.

Psychedelic and groovy ABC from Sesame Street.

Une pluie d’or – Michel Drucker Experience

14 May

Lots of 60’s style psychedelic effects in this one, but it is actually quite contemporary, done by the Belgian band “Michel Drucker Experience”.

Shtusim

13 May

This Israeli commercial for yogurt really blew my head off, maybe because I was in the right state of consciousness when I first saw it.
Highly commercialized, highly silly and definitely highly psychedelic. Of course, don’t miss the Amanita Muscaria mushroom shaped house which the kid drives by on his lovely yogurt train.

1001 Nights – Yoshitaka Amano

13 May

“Anything Yoshitaka Amano is perfect for tripping.” says Erika Hsu who sent me this link, and judging from what I see, I can certainly believe that. This one is part of the short movie 1001 nights. Beautiful dreamscape.

Pharoah Sanders – Africa – You’ve Got to Have Freedom

12 May

Some interstellar jazzy worlds from Pharoah Sanders for a lovely psychedelic morning.

Go Speed Racer go!

11 May

The Wachowsky brothers’ Speed Racer failed as a movie, but was arguably one of the greatest achievements of psychedelic aesthetics in the the history of cinema. The “Go Speed Racer Go” song clip is just stunning.

Shmulik Krauss – Shishi Cham

10 May

A psychedelic video to a song about the wonders of Hash written in the early 70’s by Israeli singer Shmulik Krauss. This song is a part of the album “Kraus Vs. State of Israel” which Kraus wrote from jail. The clip was banned for screening in Israeli TV.

7UP psychedelic commercial

Back in the days when drinking a soda was psychedelic.
