Sesame Street’s classic pinbball no. count video proves again that Sesame st. is the queen of all psychedelic TV shows. In 2012 an updated and awesomely psychedelic 3D version of the clip was produced by YouTube user animaysh which is a delight unto itself.
Totally Tulip-Trixy Sweetvittles and friends
8 JanIt’s my birthday tomorrow, so I thought I’d post one of my films. This one is a favorite of mine. It was created in collaboration with my dear friends twins Lecie and Katie Williams and their kids. Their hubbies, Rob Waller and Paul Galiunas make some sweet special appearances as does lovely Andrea Thome. I hope you enjoy the psychedelic silliness!
Grace Jones Pee Wee/Snow Miser Heat Miser
25 DecI really can’t stomach most holiday TV specials, but the 1988 “Christmas at Pee Wee’s Playhouse” is spectacularly weird and lovely. This version of Grace Jones singing “The Little Drummer Boy” showcases Jones’s otherworldly beauty and yes, grace.
The Snow Miser/Heat Miser song from Rankin and Bass’ 1974 stop-motion special “The Year Without a Santa Clause” is super catchy and the art direction is a saturated masterpiece. From the pogo sticking demon elves to the Heat Misers flaming hairdo, this one is an original.
