Air – Sing Sang Sung

The beautiful, beautiful, dreamy, mushroom-like psychedelic music for Air’s “Sing, Sang, Sung”. We are all like a small black making it’s way through this strange beautiful universe.

Space Giraffe

5 Jun

How about those psychedelic computer games? Are they good to play while on a trip? I’m not sure how one will perform. But what is for sure, is they are beautiful to watch.

Space Giraffe is one of those psychedelic computer games where it seems as if unidentified objects of consciousness are fighting against themselves in a struggle to free the soul out of it’s cage and bring eternal oneness to the world. Enjoy!

Dumbo the psychedelic elephant

1 Jun

This famous excerpt from Disney’s Dumbo (1941) is arguably one of the first psychedelic scenes  ever.

The relations between Disney and psychedelics are not clear. According to Peter Stafford’s “Psychedelic Encyclopedia” the chief visualist for Disney’s Fantasia (1940)  participated  in the mescaline experiments conducted in Germany by Kurt Beringer in the 1920’s.  Artist Paul Laffoley claims that Disney himself experimented with Mescaline “On a regular basis” during his stay in Germany in the 1930’s. Many other theories regarding the relations between Disney and psychedelics exist, and you can find out about some of them here in this fascinating article.

In this particular scene, Dumbo drinks from a bucket and slowly begins hallucinating. He sees pink elephants which appear before him out of thin air, and start dancing and singing (This sequence starts around the 3rd minute). By the fifth minute Dumbo’s fantasy world becomes increasingly psychedelic as the pink elephants change shape and colors. It seems the bucket has been spiked.

Tinman

This isn’t really a video in the normal sense of the world. More like an interactive video. However Infinite Oz, Verizon’s psychedelic rendition of sceneries from the sci-fi series Tin Man is just so amazing I had to feature it here.

‘Altered States’ Trip

29 May

The zenith of a mind blowing psychedelic trip. This one is from the incredible movie “Altered States” directed by Ken Russell (1981). The film is loosely based on the pioneering work of isolation tanks pioneer John Lilly, who was also a sedulous psychonaut and conducted some of the world’s most interesting psychedelic research of his time by using psychedelic drugs in combination with lengthy periods of isolation inside isolation tanks – a practice sure to arouse some hyper-psychedelic results.  This particular clip is saturated with esoteric and symbolic content, some of it rather dark in nature, however I find it to be very revealing.
