There are many flavors of psychedelia, and one–I think–is thoughtlessness. In these videos, there’s not too much to contemplate, but I’d say each is a pleasure to watch. Though I can’t recall the source, a few simple words from an album review still stick with me years and years later, “Give your brain the night off.” This weekend I provide you with three samples of 3D animation to do just that.
The video for “A Message” from Kelela’s recent Hallucinogen EP builds up a lot of quiet tension before it releases it into the psychedelic outburst of the finale.
Spectacular fractalic imagery with some kicking psytrance in this video to a track by Open Source.
Truly, I wish I didn’t have to ruin some of the surprise in the turn that this video takes, but I’m afraid for this selection I do need to warn viewers that there are some disturbing visuals in this one. The music remains entrancingly chill though.

Sometimes, when checking our archives to determine whether a video has already been featured on the Daily Psychedelic Video, I end up a little alarmed to find that I’ve stumbled across certain videos all on my own. I can’t imagine what led me to this particular find, but I feel quite certain that it belongs here.
