Something about VALIS

10 Oct

This clip uses strange, home-made (???) videos to try and convey the idea of VALIS that originated in the mind of Philip K. Dick. That is, a “Vast Active Live Intelligent System”, a conceptual entity that bends time and space, and is made of information and knowledge. Although it is Godlike, it doesn’t rule the world; It keeps it from falling to chaos by giving enlightenment. If I understood it right…

you gotta believe: PaRappa the Rapper 2

This game, as well as the first one (on ps1), is full of psychedelic awesomeness. It is a rhythm game for ps2 not unlike Space Channel 5. And from the first moment on you feel it is one from the days when those games still had the freedom to aim for pleasing a niche audience instead of everyone and their parents. Another one for the list of stoner game classics.

The second video shows you some of the gameplay and the third one is a song from the game but looks just like a very cute music video.

Enjoy!

“water – sound – drawing” by A. Lauterwasser & S. Keller

5 Oct

I am working on a project with a collective of musician, dancers, videasts, a project dealing with the power of vibration, the power of nature, and the power of humans…

During my research, I discovered this incredible biologist, and artist, who works with sound and water, Alexander Lauterwasser is a master in hist art…

At the performance “under water 03”, Stefan Keller combined his music, “water-sound-drawings” by Alexander Lauterwasser, “sound drawings” by Stefan Keller and text performed by Marco Caduff.
The flutist “speaks” trough his contrabassflute to the water …

Trippy Trends in Minecraft: Freefall

2 Oct

We have covered Minecraft before here on dpv. But this time the psychedelic activity is completely user generated. And this proofs an important point: If people would live in a box of legos they would still look for a way to trip.

It is also interesting to compare the aesthetics especially of the first video to the trippy sequence of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

“Just lie down and listen to my voice”. Dreamy and somewhat erotic psychedelia which makes you float on your sofa.
