The Israeli film “Zohi Sdom” which tells the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah, has this scene in which Lot goes a sugar trip which seems like a mixture of the effects of acid and cocaine.

Ha-Kochav Ha-Kachol opening scene – 1995

25 Aug

Ha-Kochav Ha-Kachol (Blue Panet) is probably the only Israeli psychedelic feature film ever done. It is a tale about a guy who arrives at the Tel Aviv Bus Station, gets his stuff stolen by a hobo, and then embarks on a cosmic adventure. Directed by Gur Bentvich the film  used to be screened at the Tel-Aviv Cinematheque every Friday on midnight for a number years during the nineties.

The opening sequence, has a very low-budget but well made psychedelic animation sequence.

Israeli director Vania Heymann has become quite an internet phenomenon in Israel. In the past few months, Vania, a film student from Jerusalem has come out of nowhere and released a series of inspiring and highly viral videos into the Israeli web. His latest work, a video clip for Assaf Avidan’s track Different Pulses, has a nice hallucinatory feel to it.

Turkish Coffee – Arik Einstein clip by Dudu Geva

28 May

Dudu Geva was one of Israel’s foremost comics artists. His style was chaotic, radical and very psychedelic. Geva created this video to Arik Einstein’s song “Turkish Coffee” in 1974. It is the first Israeli music video, and has a strong 1970’s psychedelic style. The actor in the clip is Geva himself, incidentally.

Keshet Ve Anan

6 Feb

I used to watch this TV show as a kid. Bizzare show about an artist whose life revolves around the Jewish holidays, and who makes statues who become a live whenever he leaves his home, commanded by his talking parrot – or something like that. Now, years later, it kinda’ looks psychedelic…

Edo Amin – Si Hanetek Hatotali, from Eddie King

8 Dec

Back in 1992 Gidi Dar created the legendary Israeli film “Eddie King“, then Edo Amin created “Si Hanetek Hatotali” (The peak of ultimate disconnection) which became the hymn of an Israeli generation. A great song with a cool psychedelic clip which makes my heart leap with joy.

Psychedelic Yogurts

24 Apr

The relation between psychedelic aesthetics and capitalism is one that still needs to be elaborated upon, and those who wish to explore it are welcome to explore “Psychedelic Commericals” category here on the site which features a selection of psychedelic commercials.

The “Shtusim” Yoghurt series has already been featured here on the site, as a prime example for an extremely psychedelic video. The new video from the “Shtusim” Yoghurt series, has the same vibe of psychedelic children in a la la land.

The Intergalactic Underground

23 Oct

I think it’s time to reveal the psychedelic videos of DPV’s founder, Ido Hartogshon. His diverse enterprises include a political (?) party, a motivational course for personal and universal Geula, a birthday party for the whole universe, and a series of commercials that explain why marijuana is evil. and most of these are psychedelicly documented in his funny and extremely good vibe youtube page.

and here comes an intergalactic transmission:
