The computer generated textures of image and sound recall the promise of a limitless richness to our modern days once again. And this time (again) the creatio ex nihilo is in the hands of man… and it is rather available compared to heavy industry. The promise of the artificial paradise grows in the vast amount of “unofficial videos” created to the sound of Autechre and similar artists.
I think this version of the promise of an artificial paradise is typical for the 90’s and early 00’s.

you gotta believe: PaRappa the Rapper 2
9 OctThis game, as well as the first one (on ps1), is full of psychedelic awesomeness. It is a rhythm game for ps2 not unlike Space Channel 5. And from the first moment on you feel it is one from the days when those games still had the freedom to aim for pleasing a niche audience instead of everyone and their parents. Another one for the list of stoner game classics.
The second video shows you some of the gameplay and the third one is a song from the game but looks just like a very cute music video.

It is also interesting to compare the aesthetics especially of the first video to the trippy sequence of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
