Albert Hofmann’s bicycle trip reanimated

This is how it must have been on that crucial day on April 16th 1943, in the middle of WWII, when Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann accidentally poured LSD on himself and inadvertently became the the first LSD user, actually startkicking the psychedelic movement. The bicycle trip, which became the most famous bicycle trip ever, was actually 3 days later, on the 19th of April, when Hofmann took his second and much stronger LSD dose, but who cares. Beautiful animation! Perfect for an LSD trip, I guess.

Superjail’s Psyhcedelic Trip

22 May

[gigya src=”http://www.ebaumsworld.com/player.swf” allowScriptAccess=”always” flashvars=”id1=80643297″ wmode=”opaque” width=”567″ height=”345″ allowfullscreen=”true”]

It does not get anymore trippy than this one. Superjail, a series described as psychedelic on Wikipedia, gives us an extreme hypertrip full of shiny colors and references to Yellow Submarine and Timothy Leary.

Psychedelic Space Age Fashion

21 May

Some psychedelic space age fashion from 60’s designers such as Pierre Cardin, Andre Courreges and Paco Rabbane. Mixed with some early electronic music from Mort Garson. These outfits could prove superb for any psychedelic experience.

Love & Theft

* BAD TRIP Notice – Caution this clip features (some) dark materials and might catalyze bad trips, especially while under the influence of psychedelics.

One of the defining characteristics of the psychedelic visual experience, and of the psychedelic experience in general is endless transformations of things morphing into each other, as you can see in other videos which were featured here on the DPV, such as The Amazing Mr. Brickford.

This video created by Andreas Hykade also shows this tendency: Morphing the whole world upon itself, skipping between dimensions and amazing landscapes of figures and emotions.

The Love-Ins

17 May

“The hippies’ freedom and their strange ideas are attracting national attention”. Amusing 1967 psychedelically styled trailer for the movie The Love-Ins which prominently features a character obviously based on Dr. Timothy Leary. Like other mainstream films about psychedelics from the era, at the end it all comes down to: Acid will ruin you, and even Dr. Leary gets a pretty straightforward admonition in the film.
