The Animations of Yuri Norstein
25 MarYuri Norstein’s beautiful animations “Seasons” and “Hedgehog in the Fog” may not be psychedelic in an explicit way. But I think their richness in texture and form and “sense of metamorphosis” make them more than suitable to our purpose of providing you with something beautiful and maybe even meaningful to watch when in that… special kind of mood. Kraftwerk’s Autobahn animated by Roger Mainwood

Sita Sings the Blues – The Ramayana gone psychedelic
25 FebSita Sings the Blues is a 2008 animated rendition of the great Indian epic The Ramayana, written, directed, produced and animated by American artist Nina Paley.
Hinduism has always had a distinct psychedelic style, but The opening sequence, which is like an animated introduction to Hindu mythology, definitely brings Hinduism even closer to it’s psychedelic days of Soma.
This second clip, from the middle of the film, also has a nice psychedelic touch.

Alexander Nemenkov made this fascinating journey to the underworld. Alexander loves the music of Yello and wanted to animate something to a cinematic piece of theirs.
Other inspiration came from: Ivan Maximov, Hayao Miyazaki, M.C. Escher, Salvador Dali, Jacek Yerka, Joe Vaux, Carlos Castaneda. And of course side-scrolling video games.
