Theater of the Mind – Duff Hendrickson

28 Jan

Duff Hendrickson started making psychedelic films in the 1970s and has been active ever since. “The Theater of the Mind” is a highly surreal, highly psychedelic into the innerspace on the human mind, where Hendrickson finds very bizzare phenomena.

I just came back from a long trip to a few places, but I’m alwayas looking for the next place.

This video just makes you realize that Dr. Sesuss had a Burning Man going on in his mind on daily basis…

Lakay // Chillom

Psychedelism is not specifically attributed to music or to video, psychedelism is a feeling,
a way of perception…

Lakay is one of my favorite artist in ambient music, his first album was released lately in 2011
and this clip was made by one of my friend (Robert Spline),

enjoy !

Omodaka

13 Jan

Omodaka (also known as Far East Recording) is a Japanese collective of visual artists and musicians. Their multimedia projects fuse traditional Japanese music, electronic elements, animation, motion graphics, and visual art pieces. Their video Asadoya Yunta (above) juxtaposes calligraphy with computer animation, contrasting various dimensions: 2d versus 3d, curvilinear versus rectilinear, organic versus synthetic. The video below, for Hietsuki Bushi, is a psychedelic animation that is as vibrant as the music that accompanies it. I have no clue what it’s about though.

Norman McLaren – Begone Dull Care 1949

12 Jan

Norman McLaren was an oscar winning animation director who did some groundbreaking work from the 1940s to the 1970s. McLaren “Begone Dull Care” from 1949, was painted directly on film, to create a visual representation of Oscar Peterson’s superb piano – perhaps one of the first video clips ever.

McLaren’s work has a special exploratory quality. You can find more of it on YouTube.

This supremely chill video was made as an album teaser, but is nevertheless a delightful supernova of color set to the sounds of Stereo Silence.

Fully Adult license – D7

Back in the sixties Timothy Leary used to say (look up his 1966 playboy interview for the full discussion) LSD can give a woman hundreds of orgasms in one trip. This one brought me back to those pleasurable climatic days from the summer of love.

The Mountain

31 Dec
[vimeo http://vimeo.com/22439234]

Happy birthday world. 2012 is starting tomorrow, and with so much happening around the world, and so many expectations hanging around the magic number “2012”, we wanted to make sure we give it a good welcome.

This video was shot between the 4th and the 11th of April 2011 on “El Teide” the highest mountain of Spain (3718 meters high).  It has some really breathtaking shots that kind of made me thankful to being alive on this earth. So let’s keep it togethere, guys.  And let 2012 be a year for change. A positive one.
