Jaguar uses DMT

17 Dec

We already know that Dolphins, cats and many other animals use plants and natural substances to alter their consciousness.

Take this jaguar for instance, who seeks out and then happily munches on the Banisteriopsis caapi vine located in rain forests of South America.

Into the colorflow

10 Dec

Three processes interact to make this animation. A spontaneous differentiation due to a multi-scale Turing instability causes the development of dots and lines of various colors. Each color is also a movement, leading to a compressible flow which smears and obliterates the dots and lines. The third process is an overall exponential growth or inflation. Small structures expand, and the Turing instability causes sub-structures to form.

Samorost

8 Jan

The Samorost games are beautifully crafted “point and click” puzzle adventures by the independent czech studio Amanita Design.  Especially the art direction will give you a lot to admire on your magical journey.  The suspicious looking character at around 0:57 gives a hint at how all that incredible detail of the graphics is enjoyed best.

You can play the whole first game and the first chapter of the second right away here and here in your browser.

Both NiGHTS into dreams… and NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams are classics of pdychedelic gaming. They combine Sonic’s joy of movement with Peter Pan’s dream of flying.

The Autechre Sound and Vision

20 Nov

The Autechre sound and the famous congenial video clip by Alex Rutterford offer an explicitly synthetic synaestetic experience to our senses. The computer generated textures of image and sound recall the promise of a limitless richness to our modern days once again. And this time (again) the creatio ex nihilo is in the hands of man… and it is rather available compared to heavy industry. The promise of the artificial paradise grows in the vast amount of “unofficial videos” created to the sound of Autechre and similar artists.

I think this version of the promise of an artificial paradise is typical for the 90’s and early 00’s.
