Dreams That Money Can Buy (1947 Experimental Film)

21 Jan

Ad writes:Here’s a cool full length movie created by some great classic surrealists (including Ernst and Duchamp). It’s called Dreams that Money Can Buy. I’ve been watching it with my cat, who also seems to be enjoying it.

Go-qualia “Requiem”

20 Jan

A pitch-perfect video for Go-qualia’s Requiem, with sparkling imagery and elements of sacred geometry. It reminds me of Eckhart Tolle’s quote: “diamonds are the enlightenment of rocks.” In that sense, this video is a beautiful visual representation of enlightenment.

Dr. Seuss Meets Burning Man

19 Jan

I just came back from a long trip to a few places, but I’m alwayas looking for the next place.

This video just makes you realize that Dr. Sesuss had a Burning Man going on in his mind on daily basis…

Lakay // Chillom

18 Jan

Psychedelism is not specifically attributed to music or to video, psychedelism is a feeling,
a way of perception…

Lakay is one of my favorite artist in ambient music, his first album was released lately in 2011
and this clip was made by one of my friend (Robert Spline),

enjoy !

ACORNUCOPIA

Squirrel gains access to a psychedelic oak tree in the sky. By Jason P. Ryan. Jason also did the effects for this pretty cool acid trip sequence for a comedy series:

Infectious laughter

Laughter is a strong and common mind alter-er.

Here, a whole car on a subway gets a strong mind alteration by making each other burst into laughter, giving everyone around a raise in endorphins. Even watching the video gets the watcher into another, humorous consciousness. Prepare for a gleeful, substance-less high (Except for the chemicals of pleasure in your brain, of course).

Legendary Pink Dots – This Could Be The End

15 Jan

I assume (please correct me if you know I am wrong about this) this is a fan made video for this beautiful song by the long-standing psychedelic group the Legendary Pink Dots. But what I am sure of is that this is a pretty trippy video. Enjoy!

Billy Ze Kick – Mangez-Moi

14 Jan

Billy Ze Kick are a French band from the 1990s, with lots of psychedelic references and overtones. Their song “Mangez-Moi” (eat me) in which the band goes mushroom picking in the forest and different magic mushrooms beg them to eat them and promise to open their minds, was a big hit in 1990s France. Apparently not everybody realized what the song was really about…

Billy Ze Kick also had a very funny song about OCB rolling papers.

All these songs are much funnier when you speak French (I don’t, but I had some French speaking people explain them to me).

Omodaka

13 Jan

Omodaka (also known as Far East Recording) is a Japanese collective of visual artists and musicians. Their multimedia projects fuse traditional Japanese music, electronic elements, animation, motion graphics, and visual art pieces. Their video Asadoya Yunta (above) juxtaposes calligraphy with computer animation, contrasting various dimensions: 2d versus 3d, curvilinear versus rectilinear, organic versus synthetic. The video below, for Hietsuki Bushi, is a psychedelic animation that is as vibrant as the music that accompanies it. I have no clue what it’s about though.

Norman McLaren – Begone Dull Care 1949

12 Jan

Norman McLaren was an oscar winning animation director who did some groundbreaking work from the 1940s to the 1970s. McLaren “Begone Dull Care” from 1949, was painted directly on film, to create a visual representation of Oscar Peterson’s superb piano – perhaps one of the first video clips ever.

McLaren’s work has a special exploratory quality. You can find more of it on YouTube.
