Little Nemo in Slumberland
12 Sep
A segment from the animated movie based on the comic strip “Little Nemo in Slumberland”. This actualy was one of the first animated films, from 100 years ago, 1911 (and in colour)!
The comic strip “Little Nemo” was created by Winsor McCay between 1904 and 1914. It gained a status of an early classic for it’s imaginative storyline about the hero Nemo having fantastical, surreal adventures during his nightly dreams, every time to wake up safely in his bed just in time, an unconventional style for a comic in those days. It was far from being a simple children’s fantasy, being more threatening and hallucinatory in nature. I think this clip represents it well.

uvAntam aka Ubar Tmar
6 SepJapanese uvAntam is known not only for his crazy brand of psytrance, but also his love for sacred geometry and mathematics, which the above visual pieces illustrate perfectly. Consider for example his 2002 album Macrometasomakosmos:
The arrangement/rhythm of musical elements on this CD is based on Penrose tiles (aperiodic tiling). It is broken into tracks all either 34 or 55 seconds long, for a total of 89 tracks (that is, 55 tracks plus 34 tracks), in accordance with the Golden Mean.
34, 55, 89 are successive terms in the Fibonacci Series – a sequence of numbers in which each term is the sum of the two previous terms. As the terms grow larger and larger the ratio of a term and its immediate predecessor approaches the Golden Mean, which is (1+√5)/2 or approximately 1.618.

4 SepThis one is kind of picking up the thread from The Devil’s Tuning Fork and the recent Painting Reality post.
Like The Devil’s Tuning Fork you are exploring your surroundings from a first person perspective through creative interaction. The world may be already there and finished, but your possibilities of interaction depend on you filling the – in this case big white or big black – blanks.
