SKIP&DIE – Señorita

Flairs

14 Mar
This video feels to me like a showcase of the toys that were advertised on the Nickelodeon network when I was growing up. Floam, Gak, Koosh balls. And then there’s the wardrobe… somewhere along the lines of Wayne’s World from a different world.

And if you weren’t sold on the first selection, here’s a list of all the ways that Lionel Flairs is allegedly better than Prince.

“10,000 Emerald Pools”- Børns

7 Mar

I’m a little obsessed with this video today. It may tend more towards the dreamy side than pyschedelic, but it definitely feels other-wordly. Børns is a LA singer songwriter whose current claim to fame is that he lives in a tree-house- quite dreamy. The ethereal vocals combined with clever underwater footage make it easy to fall into Børns’ world.

TV on the Radio – Second Song

21 Feb

I searched. Believe me, I searched for more on the making of this video. Maybe stop-motion techniques don’t vary that much, but I would love to watch a project like this unfold. I am eternally grateful that there are people in this world who make such visions a reality for the rest of us.

“Lucy in the Sky with Dimonds” by the Flaming Lips feat. Miley Cyrus and Moby

15 Feb

No, I did not make this up. It’s real, even more than real maybe…

Seeeds of Love

14 Feb

Valentine’s Day seems to be a pretty polarizing holiday. If you’re sharing it with someone special this year, the first video is probably what you’d like to see. If not, and you’re in the mood for some schadenfreude, the second is about a married brute going out to the clubs and then being blackmailed by the one he pursues.

Juvenile Juvenile “Forget Me Soon”- film by Cherry Kino

13 Feb

Old style super 8 music video by Cherry Kino. Cherry Kino says, “All hand-processed. As well as regular footage I shot in Finland and the UK, the footage also includes flowers stuck directly to the film strip, and handmade rayograms.”

The Go! Team

7 Feb

A contemporary 6-person group from the UK whose sound was inspired by double dutch jump roping chants. Some serious energy, and videos very much of the retro persuasion. If that’s sounds like a good time to you, then let’s go!

Clubfeet – Everything You Wanted

17 Jan

I have great respect for simplicity. I admire this video for its use of just one feature of film editing to give us something to follow and anticipate the whole way through.

Jagwar Ma – Man I Need

3 Jan

This time I have little to say, so just kick back and enjoy.
